We Understand Industries with Difficult-to-Measure Processes

For more than 60 years, Ronan Engineering Company has helped industries solve difficult level, density, mass flow, and weight measurement challenges in harsh process environments. Our non-contact Radiometric Measurement Systems are designed to perform reliably where conventional measurement technologies often fail.

Where Traditional Measurement Methods Struggle

In harsh process environments, conventional measurement technologies often fail for the same reasons: material contact, buildup, vibration, extreme conditions, changing density, and difficult maintenance access.

Material Contact
Sensors can wear, corrode, foul, or fail when exposed to abrasive, caustic,
sticky, hot, or hazardous materials.

Process Buildup
Dust, coating, scaling, foam, and material accumulation can interfere with probes and produce
unreliable readings.

Harsh Conditions
Heat, pressure,
vibration, washdown, and hazardous-area environments can shorten sensor life
or limit performance.

Changing Materials
Moisture variation, density changes, solids concentration, and mixed material phases can make traditional readings unstable.

Maintenance
Downtime is often required for cleaning, recalibration, replacement, or vessel access, interrupting production.

Why Radiometric Measurement Performs Better in Harsh Process Environments

Traditional measurement technologies often struggle in industrial environments where materials are abrasive, corrosive, under extreme temperature or pressure, highly viscous, or constantly changing. Because Ronan Radiometric Measurement Systems are mounted externally to the vessel, pipe, conveyor, or process line, they can provide more accurate results because system components never come into direct contact with the material being measured making the system is immune to dust build-up, vibration and other issues that make measurement difficult.

Benefits include:

  • No wetted parts
  • No process interruption during installation
  • Reduced maintenance and downtime
  • Accurate measurement despite buildup, foam, vibration, or changing density
  • Long-term reliability in harsh industrial environments
